Hellooo, everybody! I hope your 2018 is off to a magical start and that you all had a beautiful Christmas. Let me know in the comments below how you spent the festivities – I’m still kind of in denial that it’s all over. I thought I’d kick off my first post of this glorious new year (reliably “fashionably” late) with my favourite beauty products of 2017…
The Body Shop Drops of Youth Cream | £22
This is my favourite daily moisturiser; it’s lightweight and noncomedogenic, so it doesn’t clog pores – my nose and chin despise me and enjoy trying to sprout new heads at the most inconvenient of times, so this little jar of magic is an absolute must have. It leaves your skin feeling fresh, smooth and clear. It’s heavenly!
Glossier | various products & prices
I have no doubt that you’ve seen a whole host of Glossier products clogging up your social media feeds and it’s easy to see why. They’re effective, cruelty free and so bloody cool. I got the Body Hero duo (£28) and have loved it. The daily body cream is brilliant; it leaves skin feeling soft and looking dewy which is perfect for adding a glowy finish to nights out. In my opinion, it’s far superior to the daily oil wash which doesn’t froth up as much as I like my shower products to. It’s still beautiful and effective, but I do enjoy a lather. I also got the Generation G sheer matte lipstick (£14) which is amazing for adding a pop of natural looking, yet buildable, colour to your lips. I can’t wait to get more Glossier in my life!
Arbonne Olive Blossom & Eucalyptus Body Butter and Scrub Set | £47
I’m fairly new to Arbonne products, but I was lucky enough to receive some samples to try out for a review, which then lead to the purchase of this sumptuous set whilst it was on offer for £24.44! I have really dry skin on my legs, and this stuff has been my winter saviour! You just can’t have enough body moisturisers. The body butter leaves my skin feeling sublimely soft and soothed, whilst the scrub gently buffs away dead skin cells to reveal smoother, clearer looking skin. I’m noticing those pesky ingrown hairs less frequently now – hallefreakingllujah! The fragrance is unusual, as there’s a subtle hint of mint, but overall it’s still quite sweet and fresh. I’m a BIG fan.
Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette | £39.50
I did do a full review of this smokin’ hot palette, but HAD to include it in my top picks for 2017. It’s one of those palettes that just oozes badassery – it perfectly transitions from summer to winter with a great mix of warm, earthy shades in UD’s effortlessly blendable, creamy formulas that have fast become their trademark. There’s plenty of intense colours to create some serious drama and some subtle pops of colour for a more laid-bare look.
Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum | £39.50
Okay, so this is one of the priciest skincare products I own, but it’s basically magic. It’s a lightweight formula jam-packed with natural plant extracts designed to lift and firm your skin, whilst simultaneously promoting an even skin tone to assist in reducing signs of ageing. I’ve noticed a dramatic difference in my skin and I’m counting down until payday because I’ve just finished the bottle and it needs to come back into my life.
Too Faced Melted Matte Lip Products | £19
Ohmystars, I cannot get enough of Too Faced makeup, especially their lipsticks! They have an eclectic mix of colours, ranging from your everyday needs and wants to some more daring, out-there showstoppers. They’re long lasting and moisturising too. I’m completely hooked with this brand – I have palettes, their mascara, powder and more! The obsession is real.
Yes To Tomatoes 2-Step Nose Kit | £4.99
Clogged pores are probably my biggest skincare nemesis, particularly on my nose, so this little kit is a great aid. It’s brilliant at attacking the little demons to leave your skin looking clearer and helping your mind feel calmer. Who doesn’t love a useful, effective pamper?!
Spectrum Collections Mean Girls Mini Burn Book Set | £79.99
It’s no secret that I’m a major Spectrum fangirl, so when they released a Mean Girls range in the summer of 2017, my obsession and love reached new heights. Combining beautiful, vegan and cruelty free makeup brushes with one of the greatest teen films of all time? SO FETCH. Full review to follow soon!
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation | £29
I’ve really struggled to find the perfect foundation because my skin seems to react badly to the vast majority of products. My pores are easily clogged and I have to practically use a vat of cleansing lotions and potions to ensure I don’t break out in spots after wearing foundation. Too Faced have come to my rescue! This foundation is sublime; it’s medium to full coverage so you can build your ideal base, it’s long-lasting, it contains coconut water to help keep your skin hydrated and looking smooth and clear, and it has a gorgeous, radiance-enhancing, dewy finish. I bloody LOVE it.
And that is that, my top beauty picks from 2017! What were your best beauty buys of 2017, did you spot any of your favourites here? Let me know in the comments below and, as always, thanks for reading, chums!
Much love,
Jess XO

You should treat yourself! I can see me developing a Glossier addiction haha
I might do that! I think I could become addicted too! Haha
You have so many great picks here!! I have been so tempted to try out the glossier generation g lipsticks but keep talking myself out of it. I have some colourpop ones with similar packaging that weren’t that great. I also really wanted the Naked Heat until the Tarte Toasted palette came out. I might get it on a future sale.
