REVIEW | Too Faced Chocolate Gold Palette

Hellooo, everyone! I hope you’re all fine and dandy. I’m sure you’ll have all seen pictures of this decadent, luxurious palette from Too Faced clogging up your social media feeds, but what’s it really like?

I’m absolutely obsessed with Too Faced as a brand; their products are fun, effective, cool af and they’re cruelty free, so I was really excited to get my hands on this palette. It’s a new addition to their Chocolate Bar collection, so like the others in the range, it’s infused with cocoa powder and smells absolutely incredible. As soon as you flip the lid, you’re greeted with the glorious aroma of chocolate, which is a total mood booster! The packaging is out of this world; the shadows are housed in a delicious looking chocolate bar dipped in a melted gold effect to create some serious glamour. Inside, there’s a generous mirror that’s the same size as the entire length and width of the palette, so it’s perfect for on the go applications, too.

The colours are a great mix of mainly shimmery, foiled shades, infused with real gold (!), with some matte ones for balance. The colours are brilliantly bold and extremely pigmented, so you can create some majorly dramatic looks if you so choose, or pull it back for some subtle daywear looks. It costs £39, which I think is reasonable for such a luxurious product and you do get 16 glorious shades to play around with:

Money Bags | A deep, rich emerald green

Chocolate Gold | An oversized inclusion in a show-stopping yellow gold

Rich Girl | A pearly platinum pop

Cocoa Truffle | A beautiful milk chocolate matte shade

Decadent | A strong, matte black perfect for adding some drama

Love & Cocoa | A rich, warm bronze

Old Money | A bright copper

New Money | A bright pop of sparkling pink

Famous | A glistening, shimmery gold with cocoa undertones

Classy & Sassy | One of my personal favourites, an almost rose gold metallic shade that’s beautiful on its own or blended with another showstopper

So Boujee | A warm matte beige

Holla for a Dolla | A gorgeous dark gold with flecks of deep brown

Gold Dipped | A light, pearly gold

Livin’ Lavish | A deep, decadent purple

Drippin’ Diamonds | A classic silver that really is reminiscent of diamonds!

Rollin’ in Dough | A matte cream shade with warm undertones

These are the swatches of every shade on a small range of skin tones from Too Faced’s own website:

The shadows all offer a velvety finish and blend easily, so it’s a great palette for creating a wide range of looks. A lot of the colours can be used on their own because they’re so highly pigmented, which is great for incorporating it into your everyday routine. I often find myself not using palettes as much as I’d like to because my mornings are so rushed! Having some gorgeous stand alone shades is a must.

When applying a mix of shades, you do get a lot of fall out, so I would recommend doing your eye makeup first and then your face makeup afterwards. I’ve been absolutely loving having a play with the shades and it’s made me all the more excited for Too Faced’s upcoming releases! There are a few colours I wouldn’t have usually thought to purchase, but having them in this palette has made me more inclined to experiment and create some more unusual looks. I feel like we all get into a bit of a routine with the colours we wear and the looks we create; this palette is brilliant inspiration for going out of your comfort zone and developing your skills.

Have you tried the Chocolate Gold palette? What did you think? Or are you thinking of treating yourself to it? Let me know in the comments! Thanks so much for reading, folks!

Until next time,

Jessa XO
