5 Cruelty Free Moisturisers Your Body Needs

Hellooo, folks! I hope you’re all fine and dandy. With summer fast approaching (rather inconsistently in England), the pressure to have your “summer body” ready is all the stronger. Now, whilst I abhor such nonsense (EVERY body is ready for summer – as long as you’ve got decent SPF), keeping your skin well looked after is an important part of self-care and your older self will thank you in years to come! So, here’s a round up of my favourite moisturisers to keep your skin at its best:

1. The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Restoring Body Butter | £15

I absolutely adore this range from one of my favourite high-street haunts, The Body Shop. It’s incredibly luxurious, deeply nourishing and leaves my skin feeling baby soft. The butter is quite rich and thick for the summer months and there’s a thinner lotion on offer in this range, but I don’t find it works quite as well for me. I have friends that swear by it, but the butter is the by far the superior product in my humble opinion! It leaves my legs in particular looking and feeling incredible, plus, it smells like a total dream. It’s suitable for the most sensitive of skin types and I’ve found it massively reduces redness and irritation. Winning!

2. Brazilian Bum Bum Cream | £18 (for 75ml)

I got this for my birthday, as it’s quite pricey, but it is magical. It’s a gorgeous formula that soaks into your skin as though quenching hours and hours of thirst, leaving your body feeling softer, firmer and more supple. The formula contains guarana extract, which is rich in caffeine, so it works hard to stimulate circulation and tighten your skin – so give some extra attention to your derrière! I definitely noticed a difference in the texture of my lower half and could’ve eaten myself because the pistachio fragrance is dizzyingly delicious.

3. Glossier Body Hero | £18

This lightweight moisturiser has an unusual fragrance; it’s fresh and clean, but reminiscent of baby oil, which is very soothing and relaxing, if a little odd at first. It’s best used right out of the shower on towel dried skin and leaves a dewy glow, whilst providing some much needed moisture. Top tip, a little goes a long way! Don’t make the mistake of applying too much and wandering about looking like a greased up unicorn – I’ve been there, my friends, and it isn’t pretty. Glossier offer this in a set alongside their Body Hero shower gel for the bargain price of £28, but I really didn’t enjoy the shower gel and found it quite ineffective, so would just stick to purchasing the moisturiser in the future.

4. Lush Sleepy Body Lotion | £13.95 (for 215g)

This rich, deeply nourishing lotion is infused with lavender oil, Fair Trade cocoa butter and Ylang Ylang oil to help ease the stresses of the day and lull you into a deep, dreamy sleep. It’s quite a thick formula with a heady, intoxicating fragrance, so it’s perfect before bed as it does take a little while to soak in. Summer nights can get rather restless, so this little wonder works its magic on your skin whilst you slumber. Blissful!

5. The Body Shop British Rose Body Yoghurt | £8.50

A fast absorbing, lightweight moisturiser that’s not only cruelty free, but vegan too! At only £8.50, this is a skin-saving bargain. There’s a range of fragrances to choose from (mango is another personal fave), and each yoghurt in the collection is the same gel-like formula that instantly melts into damp skin, saving you some precious minutes to make more of your day. It’s absolutely perfect for summer!
