Lush Sleepy Body Lotion | Does it really work?

Sleep is not my friend. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love to sleep. I adore my bed. I adore having a pamper session, putting on fresh pjs and slipping under one of my gorgeous bedding sets. I adore feeling rested and getting through the day with oodles of energy but sadly, sleep doesn’t love me in return. I’m forever tossing and turning, worrying about the world ending, or other ridiculous notions of doom, and have tried various tactics to try and avoid spending my days wandering around resembling a zombie. Nothing seems to work; I usually go days and days running on 4-6 hours sleep per night, until I finally crash on the sofa in a bewildered heap for a marathon nap. So, naturally, I was overjoyed to hear Lush’s promise of a dreamy night’s sleep with the help of their Sleepy body lotion and decided to put it to the test.

This dense and creamy body lotion is made using Fair Trade cocoa butter, lavender water and oat milk, amongst other cruelty free ingredients, to concoct a sweet and soothing formula. It’s moisturising without being greasy, although I do find it takes quite a while to soak in. You’ll wake up with your skin feeling super soft and you’ll smell delicious for hours, yet the lavender aroma isn’t overpowering. The medley of ingredients work wonderfully together to pamper your skin whilst creating a relaxing ambience. So does it actually help you sleep?

I’m of the mindset that if it works for me, it can work for anyone and it did work for me – but here’s the thing, not all the time. When you struggle to sleep, I think getting into a routine is a major part of finding that balance that allows you to nod off, so adding this dreamy lotion to your evening routine certainly won’t do you any harm. Having said that, if you’re of the anxious, overthinking persuasion like myself, then applying this delicious lotion certainly is a lovely way to unwind and relax, but I can’t promise your issues will be solved completely and you’ll drift off peacefully into a deep sleep.

Getting to sleep still remains a battle for me, but I would definitely recommend giving this lotion a try to see if it works for you. It’s not a miracle provider, but anything that forces you into a consistent bedtime routine is sure to be a wonderful and helpful thing. It comes in three sizes; the smallest is £8.75 for 95g or the largest is a whopping 440g for £26.95. I went straight down the middle and bought 215g for £15.95, which I think is reasonable for the nights where it has worked for me.
