8 Autumn Wardrobe Essentials

Hoorah, my favourite season is here! Time for woolly hats, scarves, blankets, hot chocolates and chunky knits. Halloween is just around the corner and Christmas is lurking in the not-too-distant distance; festive fun and loveliness awaits! With that in mind, I thought I’d share my favourite Autumn fashion picks with you in case, like me, a new season means any excuse to go shopping…

The Teddy Jacket

No doubt you’ll have seen countless variations of this cosy little number spamming your Instagram feed, and it’s not difficult to see why. Teddy jackets are easy to style with a range of outfits and add much needed warmth whilst still remaining pretty damn cute. I got this one from Urban Outfitters and loved wearing it over the top of a glitzy jumpsuit, but it was rather pricey. I’ve since seen very similar ones in New Look and Primark for much cheaper – much to my boyfriend’s dismay!

The Boots

Boots can change your entire outfit. Over the knee boots, slouchy boots, ankle boots, Chelsea boots, I’m completely obsessed. There are tonnes of high street options available so you don’t have to break the bank – my current favourites are plentiful and are all found here on Koi Footwear’s far too tempting website.

Leopard Print Anything

Leopard print is every-bloody-where right now and I am not sad about it. It’s a fun print that adds a touch of subtle class to an outfit in the form of shoes or a belt; you can go all out and wear a 90s style slip dress with a tee underneath or ooze Insta-glam with this gorgeous asymmetrical satin skirt from Pretty Little Thing. Alternatively, score all the fashionista points with this stunning Zara faux-fur leopard print coat that’s definitely on my wishlist. If you’re not into leopard print, then snakeskin and zebra prints are easily styled substitutes that’ll add some 2018 glamour to your #ootd.

The Blazer

Paired with a high-neck thin knit jumper or top, a blazer is functional, transitional fashion at its best. I’m loving sumptuous velvet and corduroy the most right now, especially as 70s style silhouettes have popped up everywhere in all their retro glory. Primark have a beautiful lilac corduroy blazer that is speaking to my soul and will most definitely be added to my wardrobe very soon.

The Plaid Piece

Adding a bold print to an outfit is a brilliant way to channel those autumnal vibes without having to spend too much. I loved wearing this new pair of plaid trousers with pieces I already owned; it looked like an entirely new outfit when in reality, I spent a bargain £13 on new bottoms in Primark. Topshop, Pull and Bear and New Look also have some beautiful plaid trousers, dresses and skirts that can be styled in your own bold and beautiful way. You could even channel your inner Cher Horowitz and go all out with a two piece!

The Colour Palette

Of course, the usual greys and rusts are always going to go down well in autumn, but anything brown is going to be a major winner! Live out your chocolate dreams and treat yourself to a coat (apologies to my bank balance) or dress; you’ll have no regrets. Adding pops of pastel to your autumnal wardrobe is also a great way to cling on to those fading summer days, whilst having more tones to play around with. Pale blues, lilacs and pinks aren’t going anywhere!

The Midi Skirt

I’m obsessed with midi-skirts! Patterned, plain, pleated, floral, whatever way they come; I want them. I’m loving wearing chunky knits and ankle boots with them, or pointed ballet flats for those days where your heels just can’t hack elevation – which is an all too regular occurrence for me!

The Snazzy Jumper

I’m a big fan of a patterned, obnoxiously over the top jumper and urge all of you to find the biggest, cosiest knitwear on the town and seize the time to wear it loud and proud! This pastel dream is from Glamorous, and I am rather besotted with it. Slogan sweats, pom-poms and clashing patterns are littering the high street, so you’re sure to find something to suit your style!

What are your top autumnal fashion picks? Let me know in the comments below! As always, thanks for reading, folks.

Much love,
